The square is an open glade within the city. It is a space for people to interact and for events to take place. Rathausvorplatz is surrounded by public buildings such as the city library and the district office. During the past year of Covid restrictions, the employment office has been a vital place in the area. We have been living in a time where people are divided into system-relevant and non-system-relevant. Surplus is what is generated through effort and working together, a sign of wealth and prosperity. Can we be defined through our social relevance?

The grass is a marker for cultivated nature. We deeply need green spaces, but we don't always want to accept their terms and conditions. The perfect grass is cut. We cultivate nature to suit our purposes. I sew the grass onto the form and give the fibers structure. The work manifests itself and intrudes into the landscape. It is left on the square during the exhibition period to grow, breathe, rot, and decay. The transformation is ongoing and a movement in time.
