Nevelsfjorden, Kjerringøy (NO)
A sculpture inspired by the landscape of Kjerringøy, using shapes from weather-beaten mountain birch trees that I collected, carved and joined together with juniper plugs. Birch trees have adapted to the Arctic climate and are one of the northernmost tree species on Earth. It often grows where other tree species struggle to survive, and due to the harsh conditions and sometimes inaccessible terrain, the birch grows quickly and becomes strong. It is an expression of resilience and survival, with its roots creeping over rocks in search of soil and water.
